I can’t do it. My leg is killing me. This is difficult. I’m never gonna get through this. I’m starving. This is going to be a deadly day. Are these phrases that you find yourself saying on a daily basis? Some do seem harmless, but there is power behind our spoken words.Think about the words you utter, are they blessings or curses? There are times when I find myself saying phrases like this in the spur of the moment, without actually thinking of what I’m confessing. A terrible habit I have recently developed while laughing is saying “I’m dead” to emphasize how funny a joke was. What a terrible phrase to confess. 😟

Do you know that there is a lot of power in the words that you and I confess? Remember with words the world came into existence. In Proverbs we were told thatDeath and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Prov 18:21. This verse is very evident in the story of the woman with the issue of the blood for 12 years (Mark 5:25-34); She said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”  Her confession about being made well after touching the hem of Jesus’ garment brought about her possession of healing and freedom.

Even though the woman with the incurable condition( bleeding constantly) was in a situation that made her ritually unclean and excluded her from social interaction she didn’t let it change her confession. Another example is the story of Ruth. After Ruth’s husband, father in-law and brother in-law passed away, she insisted that she’ll
stay with her mother in-law (Naomi) “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” Ruth 1:16-18. At the end of her story, we find out that her confession brought her into her divine destiny. Ruth remarried Boaz, a kinsman redeemer (a relative who restores or preserves the full community rights of disadvantaged family members) and gave birth to Obed, who became the father of Jesse, the grandfather of David. King David in whose bloodline Jesus was born into. What a great privilege? Now it’s not likely that something exactly like that will happen to you, but what you should take from this is: Don’t let your situation change your confession! 

What are you saying with your mouth? Consider your way of thinking and alter the words you say. Where you are today is a direct result of your own spoken word and thinking. Change your words and you can change your thinking which will bring about possession and change your world.

Dear Jesus,

Help me to monitor the words I confess, I am aware that my confession is my possession and my confession can change my situation. So I confess…

I am the head and not the tail, (Deut 28:1)

I am strong and not weak, (2 Corin 12:10)

I am whole in spirit, soul and body, (1 Thess 5:23)

I am free of all diseases, (Isaiah 53:5)

I shall never suffer, (Psalm 55:22)

I shall never lack, (Psalms 34:10)

I am more than a conqueror, (Romans 8:37)

I am blessed when I go in and when I go out, (Deut 28:6)

No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper, (Isaiah 54:17)

As  I have confessed I shall possess as well In Jesus Name,
