The “fight or flight” response often pushes us to act impulsively in difficult situations, creating more chaos than calm. Think of movie characters, sinking deeper into quicksand because they panic and struggle, fearing they’ll drown.
In Psalm 40:1-3, David describes being in a “pit. Rather than acting impulsively, he chose stillness and surrendered his struggle to God. By waiting patiently, he was delivered – not by his efforts but through God’s faithfulness.
When we find ourselves in life’s “pits” or “quicksand”, our wisest response is to stay calm, trust, and wait on God. In His timing, he will lift us out and set our feet on solid ground.
Have a Neatly Grounded November ✨
